To borrow a metaphor from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): as a client and therapist, each of us will be climbing our own mountain [of life]. From the therapist's mountain, they may be able to see obstacles ahead for the client, and guide them through those obstacles. At no point though, can the therapist climb the client's mountain for them, or change the mountain itself for the client. This metaphor illustrates our belief in the person-centred approach and of having the humility to walk with our clients through obstacles.
The name of our practice "To You psychology" is inspired by the Japanese rainy season called "tsu-yu". Tsu-yu typically occurs from late-May to July for about 6 weeks each year before the summer season starts. Whilst not the most popular season of the year, with relentless humidity and tenacious showers, it gives opportunity for growth, reflection, and preparation for the upcoming summer season. It serves as a reminder for the importance of balance and gratitude.

To You Psychology acknowledge the traditional custodians of the unceded land, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nations, where we live, work, and play. We pay our respects to the elders of the past and present, and the connection the Wurundjeri people have with the land.
